C J Ilex writes philosophical science-fiction thrillers — stories about reality, consciousness, and what we owe each other once we know the truth. His debut novel, Model 36, Book One of the Project Amara series, is published by Luashae Press on 7 August 2026. A free companion story, The Clearing, is available to newsletter subscribers.

He lives in Southern England with his family, two children, and a tortoise that technically belongs to his son. He’s always liked technology, but is more interested in the questions it raises — about our place in the world and, indeed, the universe. Those questions kept turning into stories. Eventually he gave in and wrote them down.
