Who I am

This website, https://cjilex.com, is run by C J Ilex (Luashae Press), author of Model 36. This policy explains what personal data the site collects, why, and what your rights are.

Newsletter and free story

When you sign up to my newsletter (including to receive my free short story, The Clearing), I collect your first name and email address. This data is stored with my email service provider, MailerLite, and used to send you the free story, occasional updates about my books, and other author news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email; your details are then removed from active mailing lists. See MailerLite's privacy policy.

If you joined my list through a giveaway or story swap on StoryOrigin or BookFunnel, those services process your email address in order to deliver the book file and pass your details to my mailing list, as described in their own privacy policies.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, I receive the name, email address and message you submit, and I use them only to reply to you. They are not added to any mailing list.

Analytics and cookies

This site uses analytics tools (Google Analytics via MonsterInsights, and Jetpack Stats) to understand visitor numbers and which pages are popular. These tools use cookies and collect anonymised usage data such as pages visited, approximate location, and device type. None of this identifies you personally to me.

Comments and embedded content

If comments are enabled on a page, the comment form collects the data shown, plus your IP address and browser user agent string, to help spam detection. Pages may include embedded content (for example videos or social posts), which behaves as if you had visited the other website.

How long I keep data

Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of any personal data I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact form and I will respond promptly.
